Today's random fact has to do with a game called Creeper World.
Does this look awesome, or do you suck? |
Creeper World is one of my favorite indie real time strategy game franchises that's had widespread success, developed by Knuckle Cracker using Flash and Adobe Air for the desktop versions. It started a few years ago when the original Creeper World was released.
Creeper World puts you in the shoes of a space commander, defending your base against the Creeper, an unstoppable blue alien goo that destroys everything. It's like if water actually wanted to kill you. You can build these high tech collectors that gather energy to power exotic weapons to destroy the Creeper. The only resource you need to manage is energy, which is distributed from your base over the network.
In each mission you have to figure out how to activate those magical rift totem thingies to make a portal and escape before the Creeper floods the entire planet.
Oh did I mention your base is a giant city that can just lift off the ground and fly anywhere on the map? In fact, all of the weapons can be airlifted and repositioned at will, so you don't need to worry about putting them in the right place the first time.
Probably the best 'replay' factor is the custom map editor and hundreds of player made custom maps out there you can try. They can be easy, hard, really hard, or purely for the lulz:
A trollface would be more fitting |
With all that said, we now come to the finale....... *drumroll*
The Random Fact of the Day:
Odin City looks just like the Atlantis city ship in Stargate Atlantis. They are both in that six prong snowflake like shape and can fly around. Yeah. Creeper World pretty much combines some of the best concepts from the Starcraft and Stargate verses.
